Our center is named after the Shipibo name of our Maestra Juana, which means ‘Colibri perching.’ For the Mayan culture, these brilliant birds acted as messengers between the human race and the Gods. Shamans of the Amazon believe they carry the natural healing powers of the herbs and flowers from which they feed. Here at Isa Yaka, we offer our guests a transformational experience well beyond the average Ayahuasca retreat.
We don’t just give you medicine, but we provide solid integration that will allow you to turn your ayahuasca journey into a long-lasting positive change in your life. Maestra Juana is the niece of Pascual Mahua who with his four siblings are the pioneers of Noya Rao diets in the Amazon. She is in high demand and has offered her services to a variety of different centers in Puccalpa, Iquitos, Tarapoto, Cuzco as well as Tullum and Cancun in Mexico for more than 20 years. She is greatly respected in the community. She is now focused on continuing to provide her guests with her own brand of dedication and loving care. However, she is tired of constant travels and enjoys being home with her husband Alejandro. Her son Darwin has been working with his mother or individually for sixteen years and is a powerful shaman in his own right, with a powerful voice and presence. Our ceremonies will always combine the feminine and masculine energies of this unbeatable mother and son duo, with their Icaros guaranteed to be mind-altering.

11 Days Ayahuasca Retreats
Our guests will have the choice to take only Ayahuasca or to combine it with one master plant, either Bobinsana or Noya Rao. You will also have the option to do a full cleansing (healing) with medicinal plants. You will still attend the ceremonies without taking Ayahuasca and we will customize the program based on your condition.
5 Weeks Bobinsana Retreats

These are the first words of a beautiful serenade to Bobinsana. “Little mermaid of the rivers, dance with the wind”. Bobinsana (Calliandra angustifolia) is a tree that produces bright pink starburst flowers. Bobinsana is a powerful shamanic plant.
3 Months Noya Rao
People have travelled the world to get their hands on the extremely rare master tree of pure light, Noya Rao. It is the most sacred tree in the Shipibo tradition due to its ability to connect you with divine realms and beings and fill you with pure love and light. It is the king of all master plants and holds all of their worlds within its sacred universe.

I am on my plant journey now since almost 5 years - once a year ever since I dedicate my leave to go for a few weeks to Peru for a Dieta and “reset” myself and my soul completely… That’s how it feels for me - this deep and profound connection with these amazing plant teachers!

It was a privilege to meet Juanita the Shipibo teacher. She is a true miracle worker on earth with so much love and dedication. Also the family that runs the retreat was amazing, living alongside them and being cared for by them was a wonderful experience and a lesson in itself. They were loving and kind to all of us. Noya Rao - The Path Of Truth
Noya Rao is almost a mythical tree that grows in the Amazonian forest. Little to no information is to be found on this majestic tree, and it’s all for a very valid reason, that needs to be underlined in the first paragraph – to protect it. Within the Shipibo-Conibo tribe’s traditions, who are widely considered to have the most symbiotic and very conscious approach to plant-based medicine, Noya Rao is generally seen as the great-great-grand Mother of all the other plants. Little information is to be found about this sacred plant online, so here is what I have learnt from the local communities, my Maestra and from my own research, narrowing it down to only what is allowed to be shared by its guardians.
